My name is Marina Villa-Carbo. I am pursuing an artist’s life in San Jose, CA. Born and raised in Colorado, I graduated from Colorado School of Mines in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering and worked as an engineer in Wyoming for five years before making a big move to California. Here, I am pouring my long-time creative vision into art.
My primary medium is watercolor which allows me to paint both realistically and evocatively. I recently started exploring both acrylic painting and linocut printing. My work is informed by my fascination with nature in all its forms, as well as my introspective-analytical nature. I hold a particularly enduring love for vultures and for the world under the ocean.
I would love to collaborate with you on a commissioned work. If you have an idea of something you would like to see in a painting, whether theme, element, or artistic approach, I will work with you to develop that idea into a finished artwork.
I am also creating custom painted Magic: the Gathering card alters. Please contact me if you have an idea for something you'd like to add to your deck; I accept commissions for cards and I would be happy to work with you on your idea. These are painted onto the card with acrylic paints and finished with fixative spray to protect the work.
If you are interested in a work that is already posted, please email me at fish.bones.artco@gmail.com
